Indore: A food lovers paradise

Yes, Indore is a foodie’s paradise. Excellent central indian food, a mixture of Rajasthani, Gujarati, Marathi, north indian influences to create a unique cuisine.  Street food on the Sarafa Bazar( Jeweller’s market) is actually legendary. Breakfasts are awesome, poha and jalebi.

So here’s my list, which is by no means exhaustive, but is fairly good if you’ve got to try out all these places in less amount of time.

The Sarafa area

1.  Pattice and samosa and Kachori at Vijay chat corner.

2. The samosa guy infront of Vijay chaat.

3. Everything at Joshi’s, bhutte ka kees, dahi wada, batla kachori, mirchi bada.

4. Gulab jamun, moong halwa and Kala Jamun(mawa baati) at one of the sweet shop guys on the street.

5. Shikanji at Nagori’s.

6. Garadu..awesome, fried yam like root with an amazing masala.

7.  Hotdog (vegetarian ofcourse, made of aloo-chole tikki) at  Natraj, which is actually near the Rajwada.

There are a lot many other places, but these are the places we could try out in a finite amount of time and appetite!!

In addition to these, have poha just about anywhere, with jalebi, have garadu anywhere, aloo kachori’s too good, pretty different from your regular kachoris.

And there is a lot of food to takeaway, Gajak(made from sesame seeds and jaggery), snack items like Ratlam sev, khatta meetha, laung sev..
